The Bryants are expanding by 1!

This gorgeous little family – amazing genes, right?- has been a part of my life since 2009 when I started working with mama (Whitney) as a paraprofessional along side her in a small Deaf and Hard of Hearing middle school classroom. [ Once upon a time I used to study American Sign Language and was hoping to become an interpreter but my artistic side won that battle. ] She has supported me since day one of this crazy dream of mine.

Whitney has seen me through a lot. My engagement, my bachelorette party (insert blushing emoji here), my wedding and even my first pregnancy. When we first met she was pregnant with this sweet little girl, WHO IS NOW SIX! The Bryants were even one of my first family portrait guinea pigs when I started out in the photography world. [they were brave!] It has been a pleasure to watch their family grow and I couldn’t be more excited for them and their new little boy!

O’lena is going to be an amazing big sister!

One of the things in life I have always highly valued is family. I was raised that way and it was never something I ever doubted, even when my own parents divorced a. If anything we leaned on each other even more. At 15 I was given a new baby brother and even though he was is technically my half brother I have always viewed him as my brother, nothing less. Family is so so SO important. I know that even more now as I have children of my own and I hope I can instill the same value in them. Maybe that’s why I photograph so many families even though I don’t really market for them. I can relate to them in so many ways and I love that about my clients.

This is the Nelson family. When Vicki contacted me she told me that it was very important to her to get these photographs with all the kids because two of them were going back north to start school soon. It dawned on me that the “other kids” she was referring to were her step-children. It was refreshing to see such a loving and caring stepmom do this for her family. I was witness to some pretty rotten step-parent/child relationships as a kid. These children clearly love Vicki and it is easy to see why. Right from the first email we connected. When we met I hugged her right away. It was as if we had been chatting much longer than we had. I hope her family enjoys these photos for years to come!

The Williamsons.

I first met this sweet trio at my church when they were just a duo. I don’t even think they were dating at the time. Monday nights Jess and Travis joined in as part of our young adults Bible study. Travis proposed while they lived in Uganda for a short time and it wasn’t long before they were married and expecting this adorable little girl. I felt a connection to Jess during her pregnancy and always enjoyed talking to her whenever I could catch up on busy church Sunday mornings. The love this little family has for each other radiates. It’s truly a beautiful sight to behold.

Jess and Travis now make their home in Tampa. When Jess inquired about a session I was super excited. We emailed back and forth for a while and decided to set the location at Travis’ parents home here in Fort Myers.

I have to admit that THIS is my new favorite family session. We chose a more lifestyle/documentary approach with some posing mixed in. And since it’s August and blazing hot no matter what time of day, we did most of the session indoors. This scared me a little bit at first because I am primarily a natural light photographer. But HOLY MOLY this session makes my little photographer heart SO HAPPY! This home was positively STUNNING and offered so much variety. The Williamsons weren’t too shabby either. 🙂

p.s. check out the ADORABLE baking gear grandma bought. #lilcupcake<3
