Everyone knows the phrase “less is more” but when it comes to weddings do people really practice it? Meet Jason and Dara who did just that and pulled off an awesome wedding in just three short months!

Insert super best friend Lindsay. Lindsay was the one to email me and set up the consultation. At first I was a little confused and taken back by this as it was something I never experienced.  Not only that but she was planning the wedding for just one month away! Most couples plan months, if not years in advance. Was this legit? Well thank goodness it was! I got the pleasure to finally meet Dara at our consult. Dara is a busy mom and spa owner and well, Lindsay is the best friend everyone wishes they had. She was Dara’s “right hand [wo]man!” Not only that but she played the role of officiant as well.

The wedding was simple yet elegant and beautiful. It was filled with the closest friends and family and all the focus was on Jason and Dara, as it should be. No frills. No fuss. Jason not only married Dara but he married her son as well and they became a family. They were originally going to marry in November but then they thought “Why wait?” Jason and Dara first met all the way back in third grade. It wasn’t until adulthood when Jason finally mustered up the guts to ask Dara out. And boy, is he glad he did.

So after months of severe drought here in Florida, we honestly thought we might get some rain on the day of my engagement session with Jake and Steph. It was windy, cloudy and the skies were starting to look dark. The good thing about beach sessions and the threat of rain is that it usually scares away the crowd and if we are lucky we can get a pretty sunset along with it. Unfortunately the sky remained overcast but I personally love working with an overcast sky. The blue skies at twilight against bright colored clothing makes a really nice contrast.

Jake and Steph were the sweetest and so easy going. We had been talking for months over emails and it was so great to finally meet them! We started the session at 18th Ave which is actually where Jake proposed months ago. These two love birds are getting married up in Michigan next year. Sadly for me I will not be photographing it but I can imagine it will be STUNNING. I mean, these two alone are practically super models to begin with.

Cindy is just one of those special people. She is intoxicating. Her stunning green eyes draw you in and when she talks it’s like you’ve know her forever. Yet at the same time you want to know all about her past. I definitely got the sense that there’s a good story there. (I’ve never asked but I was definitely tempted.) Her natural beauty and connection to mother Earth is both intriguing and beautiful – almost childlike. No makeup. No hair dos. Just Cindy and her perfect baby bump in nature. I recall during her maternity session she asked me to get some photos “in” the trees.

Her sweet and equally stunning mom tagged along on the session, even jumping in to be my assistant at times. The two of them had this adorable and incredible connection to each other, one that I rarely get to see. It was extremely important to Cindy to include her mom in the photos.

40 years old and pregnant with her first child. Such a remarkable thing. Isn’t it amazing?
